Supporting L.A. During These Challenging Times
While exploring the city can wait, here’s how you can help Los Angeles recover from the fires
the impact of the fires
Los Angeles is currently facing devastating wildfires that have displaced families, destroyed homes, and endangered wildlife. Entire neighborhoods are under evacuation orders, and the city’s beautiful natural landscapes are at risk. Firefighters and first responders are working tirelessly to keep everyone safe, but they need our help.
This is a time to come together and support L.A.’s communities in any way we can.
a personal note from SKAIS
As an Angeleno now living in Canada, I can’t express enough how heartbreaking it is to watch my beloved city endure such devastation. Families and loved ones are living in fear, uncertain of what tomorrow holds, and it’s a painful reminder of how fragile life can be. Los Angeles has always been a place of dreams, resilience, and community, and I believe in its strength to overcome this.
For now, travel plans and sunny L.A. adventures can wait. What matters most is supporting those who need it the most however we can. I’ve compiled resources and ways you can contribute to helping Los Angeles recover. Let’s show L.A. that it’s not alone.
Thank you for being part of this effort. Your compassion means the world to me and to the people of L.A..
With love,
SKAIS
here’s how you can help
01 Donate to fire relief efforts
Every contribution makes a difference. Here are some trusted organizations where your donations can have a direct impact:
Red Cross Los Angeles Chapter: Provides emergency shelter, food, and supplies to evacuees.
Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation (LAFD): Helps provide equipment, training, and resources for the firefighters protecting the communities.
02 Support families and evacuees
Offer Shelter: If you’re local, consider hosting evacuees through platforms like Airbnb.org Open Homes.
Donate Essentials: Contact local shelters to provide items such as clothing, toiletries, and non-perishable food.
03 Help firefighters on the front lines
Wildland Firefighter Foundation: Offers financial and emotional support to firefighters and their families.
04 Support animal shelters and rescue efforts
The fires have also displaced countless pets and wildlife. Here’s how you can help:
LA Animal Services: Accepts donations for food, bedding, and medical care for rescued animals.
Humane Society of Ventura County: Provides shelter and care for animals displaced by the fires.
Best Friends Animal Society: Works to rescue pets and reunite them with their families.
Consider fostering pets temporarily to alleviate overcrowding in shelters.
